How to share lyrics as text, ChordPro, or PDF

Choose the right export format when a singer, guitarist, or bandmate needs the chart outside your personal Lyrics Library account.

Sync keeps your library on your devices. Sharing sends a copy of one chart to someone else. Those are different jobs.

Lyrics Library lets you share a song as plain lyrics, ChordPro, or PDF. The right choice depends on what the other person needs to do with the chart.

Use plain lyrics for quick reading

Plain lyrics are best when someone only needs the words:

  • A vocalist checking verse order
  • A speaker cueing a chorus
  • A quick message before rehearsal
  • A draft you want feedback on

Plain text is light and easy to paste into email or chat. It is not ideal if the guitarist needs chord changes, because the harmony information is either missing or awkward.

Use ChordPro for editable charts

ChordPro is best when the other musician might import the chart, edit it, or transpose it in their own tool. The chords stay attached to the lyric in plain text:

That is easier to reuse than a screenshot. If someone sends a ChordPro file back to you, you can import ChordPro into Lyrics Library and keep building from there.

Use PDF for a fixed page

PDF is best when the chart should look the same everywhere:

  • Printing a stand copy
  • Sending a finished arrangement
  • Giving someone a layout they should not edit
  • Keeping chords visible exactly where you placed them

PDF is less flexible than ChordPro. If the singer needs the song in another key, an editable chart is better.

Sharing is not live collaboration

When you share a chart, you send a copy. If you change your song afterward, the exported file does not update on someone else’s phone. If they need the new version, share it again.
